‘Waymaker’: Michael W. Smith Earns first NO. 1 Song on Billboard’s Christian Airplay Chart

3-time Grammy award winner, Michael W. Smith earns his first NO. 1 song on Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart with “Waymaker,” featuring Vanessa Campagna & Madelyn Berry. Originally recorded and written by Sinach, Smith’s take climbed up the chart from #2 to #1 (Dated May 16).

Billboard reports that according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, “Waymaker” increased by 7% to 12.2 million audience impressions in the week ending May 10.

“There is something incredibly special and meaningful about ‘Waymaker,’ and I think it going No. 1 at this trying time speaks to the message of the song. It is really resonating with people and giving them hope,” says Michael W. Smith. “I would also truly like to thank everyone who has worked so hard on this project, including Vanessa Campagna who was absolutely sensational on both the English and Italian versions.”

“Waymaker” is featured on Smith’s latest album AWAKEN: The Surrounded Experience, which was recorded live at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
