MercyMe Named Artist Of The Year At 48th Annual GMA Dove Awards
Continuing a landmark year, MercyMe received multiple wins at last night’s 48th Annual Gospel Music Association (GMA) Dove Awards winning the notable Artist Of The Year, alongside Pop/Contemporary Album Of The Year (Lifer) and Songwriter of the Year Artist (Bart Millard). The band performed their nominated, chart-topping radio single “Even If” which dominated the Billboard and Mediabase radio charts with a 19-week streak at No. 1. Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) will exclusively air the awards show on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. CST.
Last week, MercyMe was recognized with their sixth American Music Award (AMA) nod. The band previously won the category in both 2004 and 2010. Fans can vote for the AMAs on Billboard.com. The 2017 American Music Awards will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
The multi-platinum selling group is currently headlining the second leg of their nationwide “LIFER Tour.” The much-anticipated new movie, “I Can Only Imagine,” a true story based on the life Bart Millard who wrote the mega-hit song “I Can Only Imagine” after the loss of his father to cancer, opens in theaters March 16, 2018
