Lecrae, Nominated For Top Christian Album In The 2013 Billboard Music Awards For His Latest Album, ‘Gravity.’
Lecrae, contemporary Christian hip-hop artist, was recently nominated for Top Christian Album in the 2013 Billboard Music Awards for his latest album, ‘Gravity.’
‘Gravity,’ which was released in 2012, marked Lecrae’s sixth studio album and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 charts, according to Breathcaste. It sold over 72,000 units in the first week as well, which made it the biggest sales week in history for a Christian hip-hop album.
‘Gravity’ is said to have been Lecrae’s most influential and critically acclaimed record so far, according to Breathecaste. In addition to being a Christian hip-hop artist, Lecrae Moore is also a ministry leader, entrepreneur, and actor, according to Elevate Christian Network. He is the president and co-founder of both Reach Records and non-profit organization called ReachLife Ministries. He has received two Grammy Award nominations, seven Dove Award nominations, three Stellar Award nominations and the award for Best Hip-Hop Music Video from the GMC Music Video Awards in 2010, in addition to his recent Billboard nomination.
Other nominees for Billboard’s 2013 Top Christian Album include Casting Crowns ‘Come to the Well,’ MercyMe ‘The Hurt & the Healer,’ tobyMac ‘Eye on It,’ and various other artists from the ‘WOW 2013 Hits’ record, according to Rapzilla. The 2013 Billboard Music Awards are set to air on Sunday, May 19th on ABC at 8/7PM CST.
Lecrae has just finished his headlining “Higher Learning” tour on March 10, during which he tried to engage college students with the Gospel message and salvation through Jesus Christ with the help of hip-hop music, spoken word, and comedy, Breathcaste reports. His next tour will be the “Inspirational Gospel Celebration” tour that is set to begin on May 9 and run until August 31.
