Gospel Rapper Lecrae To Star In Hollywood Movie “Believe Me”
“Guess I’m gettin Hollywood” tweeted the Reach Records CEO, directing his followers to The Hollywood Reporter article announcing his foray into film.
The Riot Studios production called “Believe Me,” revolves around “ a charismatic college kid who recruits his roommates in a scheme that uses a phony charity to bilk gullible churchgoers out of their money,” says THR.
Directed by Will Bakke, shooting has already begun for the indie flick which also stars Alex Russell (Chronicle), Zachary Knighton (Happy Endings); Johanna Braddy (Easy A), and Max Adler (Glee) .
It’s a good time for faith-based films, as a gifted crop of filmmakers rise up to elevate the quality of writing and production of stories laced with a message of hope.
That message in ‘Believe Me’ will likely be connected to a large base of urban viewers who will watch, if for nothing else, but to see their favorite Christian rapper show off his acting chops.
