#MondayMotivation: Try, try, try Again
Have you actually wondered if he truly counted the number of times he failed before he got it right or if the 999 times Thomas Edison was said to have failed was just an exaggeration by an exuberant motivational speaker or journalist? It’s really amazing to know that he did actually fail that number of times and eventually got it right at exactly the 1000th time.
We all fail at one thing or the other but one area where failure is most tricky and dicy is in character development. Because this one affects all other areas then it’s more likely to require more mental, psychological, and spiritual capacity.
This is October 2021. The year is rolling away like curtains at the end of a stage play. How much of your New Year Resolutions are you still in touch with? The Do’s you wanted to do and the don’ts you wanted to drop.
American Grammy winner, Jonathan McReynolds bears witness to these thoughts in his song, “Try” released back in 2018. That album “Make More Room” was spot on! The whole song makes you realize you’re not the only one in the fight to be better so you can at least cut yourself some slack and do what Jonathan McReynolds suggests, “Try”.
There’s an old saying we should recall each time we fail; “If At First You Don’t Succeed, Try, Try Again”.
“Try” by Jonathan McReynolds is a song that speaks from a realistic poling of view to real people going through real-life situations and I bet you, the lyrics alone are enough to uplift refresh you with energy enough to boost you as you ride on through life, celebrating the small victories while patiently building on the blocks of little accomplishments.
Here are the lyrics of the song, “Try” by Jonathan McReynolds: What line resonates the most with you?
And I don’t wanna pick a crazy wife
And I don’t wanna be that crazy guy
Who lost what I had inside, mmh
So I’m gonna take what’s left of me
Swallow pride, at least I…
All that you called me to be, God
I just don’t wanna stay here, living beneath
I owe it to me to at least try
Try, try, try, try
See I’m gonna try
Try, try, try, try
A little harder this time
This time, this time
I’m gonna try
Try, try, try, try
And I gotta follow faithfully, yeah
So teach me to abandon all that
Makes me comfortable, so basically…
All that you called me to be, Lord
I just don’t wanna stay here, living beneath
I owe it to me to at least try
Try, try, try, try
See I’m gonna try
Try, try, try, try
A little harder this time
This time, this time
I’m gonna try
Try, try, try, try
So I can be close to you
I only wanna make you smile
This time’s different
Tell heaven to watch me…
Try, try, try, try
Try, try, try, try
A little harder this time
This time, this time
I’m gonna try
Try, try, try, try
Try, try, try, try
All that you want me to be, God
I just don’t wanna stay here living beneath
I owe it to me to at least try
I owe it to me to at least try
I owe it to me to at least try
Mmh, ’cause if it’s God I’m after
Just can’t serve two masters
Before something happens
I gotta turn it all around
‘Cause it’s real easy to stay on the fence and still do you
And itd’ be cool if we can love the Lord and still go do our thing
But see it doesn’t work like this, we gotta be white or black
Try, tr, try, try
See I gotta try
Try, try, try, try
A little harder this time
This time, this time
I’m gonna try
Try, try, try, try
