Inviting The Prince of Peace to Nigeria
For the citizens and inhabitants of Nigeria, the Nigerian anthem might not count enough at this period. What started off as a peaceful protest to completely eradicate police brutality and rebirth the men in black and blue uniforms has suddenly erupted into a national volcano that has negatively sparked different forms of violence in the country.
After days of pleading, demands, and agitation by the Nigerian youths and its citizens asking the Government to grant their request, there seems not to be light at the end of the tunnel.
On the 20th of October 2020, Security operatives opened fire on unarmed protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos with a number of people reportedly shot dead and a lot wounded, which many have termed “Lekki Massacre”. The unforgettable night incident has triggered Youths across the Nation to resort to retaliation, violence, and vent their anger on social media. Other parts of the country have also experienced heartbreaking moments that has unleashed further acrimony and unpleasant situations.
It’s been a while that the country sat on the fence of anarchy, sitting on a time bomb waiting to explode. What you read on the papers, see on the T.V and hear on the radio might not be sufficient to provide hope for a way forward, but above all, there’s somebody highly important we have to invite quickly to steady the sinking ship.
The stage is set for the Ultimate Chief Commander of the Universe to calm the nerves of angry Nigerians who are ready to go riot at this point. He’s the Prince of Peace, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, and the Creator of the world we live in. The current situation looks to get out of the control of the leaders at the state and federal level of Nigeria, but it’s definitely not above God. The antidote to the current illness spreading in the country is – PEACE. We need it more than ever before to restore sanity, order, and calm to our dear country Nigeria.
For every Christian faithful home and abroad, the dice is cast for us to take up the mantle and continuously intercede for the country. Heeding to the negative impression that the country will not reach its peak, signals defeat and hope in God to restore us back to our Glory days. Effective prayers are needed at this point to humbly invite the way maker who has the whole world in his hands.
The scripture in Romans 5:1 states: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” As we continue to wait for the next line of action from the Government in their quest to bring the country back on track, let’s not forget the importance of seeking the intervention of the Prince Of Peace who even in the midst of storm declared; “peace be still and there was a great calm.”
