WAFBEC 2017 [Review]

Covenant Christian Centre hosted one of the largest believer’s conventions in Lagos, Nigeria.

West African Faith Believers Convention popularly known as WAFBEC kicked off on the 27^th of January 2017 and ended on the 3^rd of February 2017.

The convention over the years has hosted some of the finest teachers of the gospel of Jesus Christ from Nigeria and beyond.

WAFBEC which was established in 2013, has grown in popularity and attendance. From its first edition held at Tafawa Balewa Square to National Stadium, Surulere and now to her “permanent” home at The Covenant Place, Iganmu. The 8-day event was tagged as an “Immersion in God’s word.” with over 50-sessions.

WAFBEC convened by Pastor Poju Oyemade is geared towards teaching and impacting the fundamentals and foundational truths of the Faith movement and the promises attached to them.

The ministers at this year’s convention were Dr. Bill Winston, Dr. Crefflo Dollar, Bishop Keith Butler, Rev. Mark and Trina Hankins, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya and also a host of others which includes Rev Emiko Amotsuka, Pastor Nike Adeyemi, Pastor Funke Adejumo, Dr. Efe Obuke and more.

This year’s edition also saw powerful music ministrations by renowned ministers Tope Alabi, Nathaniel Bassey, Frank Edwards, Eben and a host of others.

Attendees regard this program as life impacting and transformative.

The 2016 edition which had an unusual twist, set out a session to honour one of the fore-runners of the gospel in Africa, Late. Archbishop Benson Idahosa. His son Feb Idahosa was on hand to receive the award on behalf of the Idahosa family and the entire Church of God mission worldwide (ministry founded by the Archbishop). He received the award and could not hold his tears back.

This culture continued in WAFBEC 2017 as another great man of the faith was honoured.

Rev (Dr.) Mike Oye, served as the Traveling Secretary of the Scripture Union (SU) and was recognized for his exemplary work in spreading the gospel of Jesus all across Nigeria.

Beyond the word, attendees praised the organization of the event, saying “it shows great possibilities for the church in Nigeria. One can only imagine what the 2018 edition would have in store for us.”
