Bumie, a U.S-based artist describes her music as a fusion of Neosoul and Hip-Hop sound that is bound to elevate the spirit, heal the soul and bring glory to God. As a Praise and Worship leader at New Breed International Church in Landover, Maryland, she has been asked over and over again about when she would be sharing her talents with the world, and in Bumie’s own words she states that “now is the time to fulfill destiny.

Bumie’s journey did not begin in the U.S., however. She was born in Lagos, Nigeria in September, 1986. And she joined the children’s choir at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, IBA parish, where she sang and led special songs. Upon her realization that she always seemed to stand out in the crowd, she mentioned that “there has to be more to this singing thing for me”.

In 1998, Bumie and her family moved to the United States. Ever since the exodus with her family she has joined various groups such as Bjoyful, Harmony, Afrikan Rhapsody, and Grace vibes. And she has also toured the United States with some Nigerian mainstream artists in the likes of Sammie Okposu, Paul Irabor Kingsley Ike, Tuface Idibia, and many others.

As Bumie’s awareness about her God-given abilities continue to grow, she finds it necessary to consistently rehearse and hone her skills, knowing that in order for the world to hear her loud and clear by the grace of God, she has to be as polished and eloquent as possible. She is determined to keep improving and enlightening herself in other aspects of music. “We serve an excellent God, therefore our presentation of his gospel must be excellent”, she says.

Gospel music has gained another great talent, because the journey has just started for this Nigerian-born artist.
