5 Powerful Life Lessons From A Hilarious Christian Rap Video

viktory-5

Viktory release a music video for the second single off of the new album “Tomorrow Came” called “We Won’t Stop”. Instead of following the mode, Viktory elected to create a hilariously entertaining abstract satire spoof of two old men tired of the younger generation playing loud music, so they take matters into their own hands. As wild and wacky as the video appears, There are some really true and meaningful themes on friendship, resilience, and Jesus.

Here are 5 of the many lessons that are present:

  • SOME BATTLES MUST BE FOUGHT ALONE
At the 3:30 mark of video “Uncle Vik” realizes he’ll need to face “The Boss”. Sometimes in life, God leads us to a place where we have to face our ultimate fear and rely solely on Him. “Uncle Vik” declines help and faces the challenge. In Mathew 26 Jesus does the same when being arrested. Peter attempts to fight, and strikes one of the men. And Jesus, in verse 53 (KJV) says, “Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?” Lesson: Jesus understood that it wasn’t time to rely on His own ideas, abilities, rights, friends, or plans. He needed to rely totally on God.
  • A LOSS DOESN’T MEAN THE GAME IS OVER
At the 3:00 minute mark “Uncle Vik” takes a serious loss on this wacky quest to turn off the loud music. But much like Jesus (death burial and resurrection), God sent help and rose “Uncle Vik” (lol) to fight another day. His faithful friend, much like the Holy Spirit arrives and restores his ability to walk and fight another day, even after a loss. Lesson: In our lives we WILL be knocked down but like Jesus, and “Uncle Vik” (lol) we have to get back up.
  • THERE IS A TIME TO SIT And WATCH GOD WORK
Just before the final fight scene, “Jefthro” is asked to step a back and allow “Uncle Vik” to fight alone. “Uncle Vik” is in no way modeled after Jesus, but in this parallel, “Jefthro” has to watch the battle be fought and won without participation. This is a deep struggle for many believers. The pressure of life can be so great that we are compelled to help God help us. However true Faith learns to allow God to truly lead, even when things don’t make sense at first. Lesson: We must learn to trust Christ to truly win your biggest battle for you, even when it appears that you are doomed to lose.
  • EMOTIONAL DECISIONS LEAD TO STRUGGLE
In the beginning “Jefthro” reminds “Uncle Vik” that he lost this fight previously. Indicating that just because he “wants”, “desires”, “feels compelled”, or better yet, “feels strongly compelled” to jump into the fray, it may not be wise. If you watch the video you see that without assistance, “Uncle Vik”, once again was at a loss. Lesson: Real life works the same way. Jesus understood that everything had it’s time and no matter what he felt emotionally, nothing was more important than God’s work.
  • CONSTANT TRAINING AND PREPARATION IS MOST IMPORTANT
At the very end of the story, they are faced with yet another opponent. This one is bigger and more dangerous than the previous group. They don’t have the option to run, retreat, or forfeit, they have to fight. They are forced to fight. They won’t progress unless they fight. In this scenario, preparation is most important.

Lesson: Life, especially for the Christian is a series of challenges, and as we grow, those challenges will also intensify. Constant reliance on scripture, discipline, and preparation is the only way to continue to rise to all the growing challenges!
